Bio

Divided is a Belgian band that brings a refreshing combination of sludgy riffs, hardcore grooves, a post-metalish shoegaze vibe and cutting vocals. Anyway, as long as it feels authentic to the band. With only one album (‘Light Will Shine’, 2024) and one EP (‘Riser’, 2022) to their name, the band already toured across Europe and played with bands like Brutus, LLNN or Wiegedood. Their strong live performance leaves an impression each time, leaving the audience beaten to a pulp. Furthermore, the release of ‘Light Will Shine’ received extremely positive reviews in magazines like Metal Hammer (UK) and New Noise (US). With their still youthful age and abundance of ideas, they are far from thinking of stopping, but we still recommend checking them out as soon as possible. You never know where the world will be in 10 years...
arely recovered from this hectic period, the band began to focus on writing their first full-length album. So, after a year of writing, rehearsing and recording, Divided is ready for you to meet ‘Light Will Shine’, the first full length release from these Belgian youngsters. Adding humanness and eeriness into their mix of post-metal, shoegaze and hardcore, ‘Light Will Shine’ turned out to be a dark and filthy sounding record that hits you in the chest from the start. The band worked together with Gilles Demolder (Siem Reap, Wiegedood, Oathbreaker) and mixing engineer Jack Shirley (Deafheaven, Oathbreaker, Gouge Away, …) to create the natural yet vicious sounding album they wanted to make.
Meanwhile, the band has been presenting the album extensively live. This has already led them to the biggest clubs in their home country Belgium, which only makes sense, since the powerful songs of ‘Light Will Shine’ may become even more powerful live. One of their many shows even convinced Peter Mulders of Brutus to declare them his favourite Belgian band of 2024. Don't miss them out!

new style

For this new record, we’re moving toward a lighter visual language — still grainy and nostalgic, but not dark. The atmosphere feels hopeful, inspired by old winter landscapes of Japanese mountains: calm, quiet, and airy. We want to keep a human, analog touch while balancing this contrast between serenity and raw texture. It’s a visual tension that reflects both lightness and emotion.

Link with first album

Our previous album Light Will Shine carried a heavier visual identity, defined by grain and a deeply human feel — something that has always been at the core of Divided. That aesthetic continues to shape who we are, and you can still see it across our merch, socials, posters and artwork. The new era builds on that foundation while opening the door to more light and space.

The new songs feel deeply human — in both their softer and heavier moments. There’s a calm presence in the music, a sense of breath and space that mirrors the Japanese visual influence. It retains the emotional core of Divided, but expresses it with more openness and restraint. The sound and visuals now move together.
